Transforming Lives Through Evangelism & Discipleship

OLCAP’s mission in rural Kenya extends beyond alleviating poverty; they are committed to fostering overall well-being—mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. Their spiritual outreach involves spreading the gospel far and wide and discipling believers through various activities.

Evangelism

OLCAP employs various strategies to share the Gospel of Jesus with non-believers. These methods include door-to-door evangelism, witnessing to clients involved in their projects, and preaching in marketplaces. Through these efforts, many individuals have come to embrace Christ.

During a recent door-to-door evangelism mission, they met Marysa, who was emotionally distressed for being abandoned by her husband. Initially skeptical, she listened to God’s word of love and encouragement and later joined their Bible study meetings. Over time, Marysa found that the group was a supportive community that encouraged her spiritual and emotional wellbeing. Following the launch of the church, she embraced her new family at Lukanji Community Church, where she now serves on the praise and worship team. Her relationship with her estranged husband is improving, and she remains hopeful for a complete restoration.

Discipleship

Each week, OLCAP hosts Bible study and prayer sessions that deepen participants’ understanding of God’s word while providing opportunities for worship and intercession for their families and nation. These sessions support the healing and spiritual growth of many community members. For example, one  member opened up to the church leadership about her depression and suicidal thoughts after the Spirit revealed her struggle. The leaders encouraged her to join a prayer meeting where the pastor prayed for her deliverance. Through prayer and counseling, she was freed from her suicidal thoughts and gave her life to Christ. Though her circumstances remain challenging, Pamela’s faith has renewed her hope. She is actively involved in evangelism and is eagerly anticipating the upcoming women’s prayer retreat.

OLCAP also sponsors women to attend prayer retreats, which provide spiritual enrichment and practical teachings. In August 2023, the ministry sponsored fifty-six women from Lukanji to attend a four-day conference in the neighboring town of Sabatia. The retreat covered various topics including family life, spirituality, the power of giving, and the power of serving God and people, which led to profound personal transformation. The impact was so significant that the church’s Reverend noted a dramatic increase in tithes and service. Encouraged by these results, OLCAP organized a retreat at the church with seventy-eight attendees, where many experienced deliverance and forged a deeper relationship with Jesus. The praise and worship team has since flourished, and numerous lives have been transformed.

Sunday Service

OLCAP also conducts Sunday services at Lukanji Community Church, where many have experienced God's touch through this ministry. In a recent service, the pastor preached from Matthew 15:13, which says, "Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted shall be uprooted." Xavier, a church member, felt the message was meant for him and prayed fervently to overcome obstacles in his marriage, as he had been separated from his wife and two children for six months. During the service, he missed several calls, which he later learned were from his father-in-law. When he returned the call after church, his father-in-law informed him that his wife and children would be coming home the next day. This miraculous reconciliation serves as a powerful testament to the effectiveness of prayer and faith.

OLCAP’s commitment to spiritual outreach and discipleship is positively transforming lives in rural Kenya. Through dedicated evangelism and discipleship, they are nurturing spiritual growth and resilience, proving that faith, prayer, and spiritual nourishment are essential to overall well- being. As they move forward, OLCAP remains dedicated to spreading hope, healing, and the message of Christ, confident that their efforts are making a lasting difference in the lives of those they serve.
