Job Summary
The Domestic Missionary will be responsible for spreading the Gospel, evangelizing the unreached, discipling believers, and multiplying kingdom-minded workers within the U.S. This role involves working within diverse domestic contexts and communities, adapting to local needs, and living out the Great Commission as outlined in Matthew 9:37-38.
Spiritual Qualifications
- Maintains a close and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as a baptized believer
- Possesses a passion to see people come to faith in Jesus Christ in all nations, with the ability and experience to clearly and concisely present the Gospel
- Believes in the mission and vision of SWHarvest
- Agreement with and willingness to live by the doctrinal convictions as set forth in the Serving Workers for the Harvest Statement of Faith
- Demonstrates integrity, humility, resilience, and a servant’s heart as described in the Bible (1 Timothy 3; Proverbs 31)
- Possesses a deep understanding of Scripture and church doctrine necessary for effective teaching and mentoring
- Belongs to a church willing to commission a member with a clear calling to missionary work
Education & Experience
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree (preferably in Theology, Divinity, Missions, or a related field)
- Preferred: Previous missionary experience
- Essential: Experience in evangelism, discipleship, and community engagement
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly relational among individuals and groups
- Cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in local languages or dialects as relevant to the specific domestic context
- Ability to teach and lead effectively
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual
- Share the Gospel with individuals and communities, focusing on those who have not yet heard the message of Christ (Mark 16:15)
- Mentor and disciple new believers, helping them grow in their faith and integrate into local churches (Matthew 28:19a)
- Equip local believers with the skills and knowledge necessary to continue evangelism and discipleship (2 Timothy 2:2)
- Commit to regular prayer for the people and the region being served
Community
- Build relationships within the community to understand their needs and serve effectively
- Learn and respect local customs and traditions, enhancing ministry effectiveness in a domestic context
- Collaborate with local churches, organizations, and missionaries to foster unity and cooperation in ministry efforts
General
- Provide regular updates and reports to supporters and the organization on ministry progress and challenges
- Collaborate with SWHarvest staff to advance the mission of reaching, discipling, and multiplying the kingdom of Christ
Compensation
SWHarvest employees are deputized to raise funds for the organization, cultivating partnerships with churches, individuals, and organizations to secure their financial support. Compensation is directly tied to an approved budget, which includes both personal and ministry expenses. To ensure your success, SWHarvest provides a robust program of training, coaching, and support throughout the fundraising process.
