God’s Digital Reach: Kuza’s Vision for African Youth

In the face a great exodus of young people from the church, Kuza is harnessing technology to reach and transform the next generation in Africa. At its core, its mission is to evangelize, disciple, and mobilize African youth and young adults. It isn’t merely a distant goal, but a tangible outpouring of God’s love and truth through blogs, videos, podcasts, and daily devotions.

After forming 4:12 Ministry, Matthew Elmore’s heart was stirred to create a ministry tool that would reach the youth right directly in their line of focus—their phones. In 2016, the Kuza app officially launched. The app initially served as a hub of regularly posted, freely accessible devotionals. As the app gained traction, Matt realized the potential it held, stepped away from 4:12 Ministry, and fully established Kuza as an independent ministry.

The heart of Kuza’s digital ministry is clearly expressed through its blogs and podcasts. These resources delve into questions frequently asked by youth across East Africa, drawn from insights of ministry leaders and thorough research. Every form of content points back to Scripture, ensuring God’s Word is revered as the ultimate authority. This approach not only provides relevant answers but also equips audiences to study the Bible for themselves. By God’s grace, these digital interactions turn into genuine encounters with biblical truth.

From humble beginnings to a comprehensive digital system today, Kuza is impacting countless lives daily. The ministry has access to millions of people, with hundreds of thousands engaging with its content weekly across its combined online platforms. Beyond these digital avenues, God has opened doors to television and radio partners who broadcast their podcasts, bringing the Word into households all across Kenya. Even certain ‘matatus’ (buses) carry their content via flash drives, exposing numerous passengers to the hope found in Jesus Christ.

As their presence continues to grow, Kuza’s vision for future projects is both inspiring and bold. Not only do they dream of expanding their radio and TV presence across English-speaking African countries, but they also aspire to establish distinct Swahili and French branches. With the increasing availability of the internet, they anticipate a greater rural ministry presence. Furthermore, Kuza is actively exploring AI translation features to make the Gospel available to every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. God-willing, even the furthest reaches of the world will hear of the name of Jesus sooner than later.

Beyond their impressive reach and future plans, the Kuza team bears distinct compassion and love for others. When a person responds on any of the platforms to receive Christ, Kuza diligently follows up with calls, connects them with local churches, and provides he or she with dedicated “New Believer Content”. This intentional discipleship ensures that new faith is properly cared for and grounded in truth.

To God’s glory, Kuza stands as a bright beacon of His faithfulness, creativity, and genius in a smart-phone world. Their strategic use of technology, commitment to discipleship, and willingness to step into challenging fields all demonstrate a clear love for Christ and His leading. They are equipping the body of Christ and building the very Kingdom of God, one transformed life at a time.
